Liftime Ottawa · Kanata24/7 Emergency Garage Door Repair in Kanata — We're On the Way
Door stuck open? Won't close at midnight? Spring snapped before work? Our Kanata emergency line dispatches the nearest tech. Most regular-hours calls answered within 60-90 minutes.
When to call emergency service
- Door stuck open — security risk for the contents and the rest of the house
- Door won't close in winter — heat loss, frozen pipes risk in shared walls
- Spring just snapped — loud bang, door now too heavy to lift, car possibly trapped
- Car trapped inside — you need to get to work or to an appointment
- After-hours commercial lockout — business owner needs to open service bays before staff arrives
- Cable off the drum, bent track, or off-track door — door is unsafe to cycle, can collapse
Our Kanata response promise
During regular hours (8am-6pm, seven days a week), most Kanata addresses see a technician within 60-90 minutes. Sometimes faster if a tech happens to be wrapping a job near Kanata Lakes, Morgan's Grant, or Bridlewood. After-hours, the dispatcher gives you a transparent ETA over the phone before any tech is rolling.
We aren't a national call center pretending to be local. The phone number you call connects to a dispatcher who knows where Eagleson exit is, knows the difference between Castlefrank and Castlefrank Road, and knows which streets close in a snowstorm.
What we fix on emergency calls
- Spring replacement — the #1 emergency call
- Cable repair and re-tensioning
- Opener override and motor replacement
- Off-track door re-railing
- Broken bottom seal repair (door won't seal, cold air pouring in)
- Manual emergency release assistance — talking you through pulling the red cord safely
- Bent panel field-repair (for security, until full replacement is scheduled)
- Roller and hinge replacement
- Damaged track straightening or replacement
What it costs after-hours
Our pricing philosophy doesn't change at midnight: free quote before any work begins. After-hours service may include an emergency response charge depending on the time of day — we quote it upfront on the phone, no surprises. You approve before we start, every time.
You won't get a "$29 service call!" bait-and-switch and then a $1,200 bill at 2am. That's a common industry trap and we don't run it.
Common Kanata emergencies we see
- Friday night spring failures — household uses the garage as the main entry, springs cycle 6-8 times a day, snap in the cold
- Sunday morning lockouts — opener dies, manual release wasn't set, car trapped before church or hockey
- Pre-8am commercial calls — Kanata North business owners arriving to open service bays before staff
- Cold-snap mass failures in February — when we hit -30°C, springs and openers fail across whole subdivisions on the same morning
- Vehicle impact — backed into the door, panel crushed, door no longer seals; we can stabilize it the same evening and order a panel replacement
What you can do before we arrive
Safety first. A garage door system stores enormous energy in its springs and cables. The wrong move can put you in the ER. These are the basics:
- Don't try to lift a door with a broken spring. A double-car insulated door without spring support weighs 200+ lbs of dead weight.
- Pull the red emergency release cord ONLY when the door is fully closed. Pulling it on a partially-open door drops the door instantly.
- Keep kids and pets clear of a partially-open door — a snapped cable or failed bracket can drop it without warning.
- Don't keep pressing the opener button. If the door won't budge, you'll burn out the opener motor trying to lift dead weight.
- Take a quick photo of the visible problem (broken spring, off-track section, snapped cable). It helps us bring the right parts.
Related services
Once the immediate emergency is handled, we often follow up with full spring repair, opener replacement, or — if the door itself is damaged beyond field repair — a new garage door install.
Emergency Service FAQs
Is it really 24/7?
Yes. Calls outside of 8am-6pm are answered by our after-hours dispatcher who routes to the closest available tech. Response times stretch a bit in the middle of the night, but we will be there. We do not let Kanata homeowners spend a winter night with a door that won't close.
What if the spring snapped but no one is home?
Don't leave a partially-open door unattended in winter — it's a heat-loss and security risk. Call us. We can usually meet a neighbor, a property manager, or your partner at the house. We can also secure the door manually and return for the full repair on your schedule.
My car is trapped inside and I have to get to work — what do I do?
Pull the red emergency cord ONLY if the door is fully closed (pulling it on an open door drops the dead weight on whatever's underneath). Once disengaged, you can usually lift the door by hand briefly to back the car out — but be cautious if a spring just broke. The safest answer is call us first; we can often arrive before you'd finish trying.
How much extra is after-hours service?
An emergency response fee may apply for late-night and holiday calls depending on the hour. We always quote it upfront on the phone before dispatch — there is never a surprise on the invoice.
